AAARRRAAGH!! I'se be back!!

Hello...did you have a nice Xmas?

We certainly did. Met new friends and found some old ones that we lost along the way.

Next week I'll be starting on some new layout tips and some sound mongering treats as well...hope to see you soon!!

Oh...and a Happy New Year to you all as well!!

Took Awhile....

Excuse me for not posting anything here but it appeared that a little ...erm...medical issue showed up. Namely Cancer...dangnab it!!

Anyhow....not that that issue is being dealt with I am in the process of actually doing a couple of final mixes on my DAW...that should, with any luck at all, be done by next week, then up on soundcloud it goes.....

-----------------------------------------

Now, I have been kind of pondering the direction that I am going to go here...right now I think that if someone is going to get into music production a good free music editing program is a good place to start.

A couple of suggestions....

Audacity...http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

and...

Wavosaur...http://www.wavosaur.com

Both are good starters to get acquainted with if you are interested in trying out your hand at this....

Some Free VSTs...like softsynths would come in handy as well....

Check out Computer Music magazine for a great list of included plugins...

Sonar X1...my adventures...

Sonar X1 is a piece of software that gives you the power of a full fledged studio right at your finger tips. I found this while hunting on the internet for a workable DAW that I could fit into my grossly underpowered laptop. And, believe it or not, it works just fine on it...

While I had my own misadventures with it...such as ProChannel not always staying on when you think it should, or the time when I did a dumb thing and froze the poor thing...I have not had issues with this for quite some time.

To find out more about this wonderful little thing check out...http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/

Getting a Studio Set Up...

I'm using an old architect's desk for my workspace right now...cast iron legs, arc set at level, 40" deep by 60" long...made out of 1" thick blond oak. Perforce this thing is heavy. So...good for no reflection of sound as well. The next thing is the computer. My computer is an Asus mobo with an i7 processor set at 2.8Ghz. I have, right now, 16Gb RAM but am updating to 32 Gb shortly....it also has 2 24" monitors as well...and, of course, Sonar X1 and a couple of other programs as well...

I'll be delving a little deeper into this as I get the thing together...meanwhile, have fun!!

We Are About To Depart...

....for places unknown. I have to redo my layout. My plans are all gimbled.

So, for the next little while my room will be in  chaos and mayhem while we take certain sections out and hand lay the proper trackage...

So, do not be surprised at the weird photos that might crop up here....

Another Interesting Day...

I need to get some things done in my work area. There are all kinds of clutterbits and what not all attached to other things that need sorting. The problem starts with the 2 modular synthesizers and their accumulated ...erm...stuff...I have oodles and oodles of patchcords and other parts flapping around in my room/studio...so...mind the stuff that will be tossed out as I go through everything...again...sigh.

Oh, something to ponder...train stations are where trains stop, bus stations have buses stop...at my office, I have a workstation....
